Look what was in our front yard on Tuesday morning!

After taking Andrew to school, I returned home about 7:45am to find Jason and Pablo putting a cute little lop earred dwarf bunny in a big oven range box in our garage. The bunny was next door, at a home we are building, behind a tractor. The little bunny was definitely a lost pet!

So, we made it a little bed with a towel, put out some lettuce, carrots and water in the box. Pablo cut out a rectangular hole about 3 feet up from the bottom so that the boys could see the bunny. This would be our temporary fix until we could find the bunny's owner.

I woke Tyler up and told him to come look a the bunny in the garage! He was SO excited ...

Tyler loved that bunny immediately! After a few minutes of "awww it is SO cute," we went back inside to get dressed for pre-school. Not 10 minutes later we were back in the garage and ready for school. Just one more look at the bunny ....

He was GONE!!! The bunny jumped out of the box hole 3 feet high and was missing. We looked all around the front yard, cul-de-sac, and finally the back yard. That bunny had high tailed it to the back fence and was ready to get out of here! Tyler picked it up and we brought it back to the box in the garage. This time we covered the box hole with the wall.

Our neighbor owns a local pet store and later in the evening brought us bunny food, shavings, a salt lick and a water bottle. I continued to tell him that this was only temporary!!! I think he just wants the boys the keep that bunny ... he even insisted that he bring a leash and collar today for the bunny. NO NO NO!!!! Temporary. Temporary!

If we cannot find the owner, the bunny may live with us for a few more days ... then our neighbor said he would take it to his store and sell it with the other bunnies. Well thanks. Now I am the bad parent for not letting my sweet boys keep a cute little bunny :) Although it is MUCH easier to wake up Tyler in the morning to go check on the bunny. How long will that last though?
The bunny saga continues .... only time will tell where the bunny will live?!
